Dnvr Cinema Center
Denver, Colorado

BACKGROUND
The Denver Cinematic space, located in lower downtown Denver, Colorado, is inspired by the structural quality created by Japanese origami folding. The project seeks the notion of
“Structure as Space” as dual purpose architectural fabric - the space where a filmic intangible phenomenal atmosphere resides. With the original idea in motion of the theatrical curtain acting as a threshold it could be said to be constructed by a sequence of gami (paper) with the mechanisms of ori (to fold) and kiri (to cut). Precise diagramming and practice of origami and kirigami revealed the embedded structure of folded plates and programmatic qualities derived from the spaces created.

SPATIAL CONNECTIVITY

Constricted space emerges from overlapping of patterns which are in compression from the upper surfaces and it keeps on expanding in an undulating system
